Leanne Ng graduated from the University of Washington with an honors degree in Interdisciplinary Art and Art History. After college, she began working with local art, serving as the Assistant Director of Vetri/William Traver Gallery and later as the Director of Foster/White. Leanne spent a year in New York City, managing development and events for the not-for-profit arts organization, UrbanGlass. She then left New York for sunny California, where she sold historic paintings for Ray Redfern in Laguna Beach.
In 2006, Leanne returned to Seattle to open McLeod Residence: a home for extraordinary living through art, technology, and collaboration. As part of the launch, she changed her name legally to Lele McLeod. Lele managed the art gallery and event space for two years. She curated McLeod Residence's exhibitions with a heavy focus on science and interactivity.
In 2008, Lele married Ian Barnett and changed her name again. Recently, Lele Barnett curated Cultural Transcendence, currently on view at the Wing Luke Asian Museum, and co-curated the 2009 Bumbershoot visual arts exhibition, Kerfuffle (or The Uneasy Relationship Between Humanity and the Environment). Her newest exhibit, Sounds Human, opens at the Seattle Center with the Mayor's Arts Awards on September 3, 2010. Barnett has been a panelist for the Jack Straw New Media Gallery Program, the Frayed Wire Festival, and served on the Bell Street Park Boulevard Artist Selection Panel for the Mayor's Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs. She is passionate about new media, technological progress, and works exploring the intersection of art and ecology.
